Models Own Scented Nail Polishes

So far I hadn't had much luck with scented nail polishes. The one I tried from Revlon had no detectable scent, however, these two are a completely different story. I have two of them from Models Own - Gumballs and Fizzy Cola Bottles.

Gumballs

Gumballs is a bubble gum/ barbie pink shade with a cream finish. The formula is not the easiest to work with, though if you're lucky it can be a one coater, but mostly it's a two or even three-coater due to the need to even it out. However, I wouldn't describe it as a difficult nail polish, more like average in terms of formula. The brush is a classic, thin one.

Once it dries it has a very authentic and lovely bubble gum scent, which reminds me of my childhood with Čunga Lunga, Bazooka and those round colorfull bubble gums. I looked a bit weird smelling my nails all the time, but it's so delicious. The scent lasts about a day.

 Fizzy Cola Bottles

Fizzy Cola Bottles is a taupe shade with gold shimmer. It's quite a sheer formula, so three coats are needed. I think it's one of the more unique shades out there. The gold shimmer doesn't come to focus as it's not dense enough and the colour actually covers it, but still it's one of those nail polishes that difficult to remove.

This one smells of cinnamon on the nails - yes, cinnamon and not so much like fizzy cola bottles. I actually love cinnamon and it would be a perfect nail polish for Christmas time. Again, as at Gumballs, the scent lasts about a day.

Prav spominja me na jabolčni štrudel (zavitek) in božič.

Models Own lake lahko dobite na Click2Chic za 5,95 € - Gumballs: SLO/CRO; Fizzy Cola Bottles: SLO/CRO.

Have a great day!

Catrice 59 First Class Up-Grape Ultimate Nail Lacquer

I am very boring when it comes to nail polishes. I change the colour on my nails once a week or less and I always wear the same few colours. So it's rare that a nail polish grabs my attention in the shop as I'm the one who likes to see things swatched on the blogs first, but this one caught my eye, due to a very intriguing colour. In the bottle it looks like a beautiful warm plum with tiny red shimmer. I expected to have the same result on my nails, but on me it's a lot more purple than in the bottle. I'd love it if it looked like it does on Nihrida's nails (who does way better swatches and nail polish application than I ever will), but I guess it doesn't work that well with my skin tone. Nonetheless it's a very pretty shade.

I know the application looks shoddy, but my Seche Vite has thickened to an useless state.

The formula is irritating, though. I find it a bit too thick and it's difficult to get an even application - uncommon for such a shade, but like most nail polishes it needs two layers. The brush is ridiculous. Sure it looks like it might work and it's wide, but the rounded shape was just a bad idea.

Have a great day!

Makeup Revolution No Good Waiting

No Good Waiting is a frosty copper shade that is completely out of my comfort zone. It's a brownish colour of which I am not a fan of, especially when I was looking at it in the bottle, though on the nails it's a lot more copper. This is a shade I would imagine more mature people wearing, but as you know colours are subjective.

It has an average frost formula meaning that the first layer is sheer or semi-opaque and then the second coat is fully opaque, though I always do thick layers and those who do thin might need to apply three. Regarding staying power I notice nothing different than at any other nail polish on me, it lasts the same amount of time as most.

It's available on Makeup Revolution website and they ship wordwide
Na voljo je na Ličila.si za 1,95€. Do konca meseca avgusta imate zastonj poštnino s kodo BLOG-POSTNINA.

Have a great day!

Essie Spin the Bottle (Spring 2014 LE)

I've been searching for the perfect nude nail polish for at least a decade and I finally found it! Essie's Spin the Bottle is the perfect peachy nude gorgeousness. It looks very classy and really compliments my pale skin tone (NC10-15).
It has the classic thick, pastel nail polish formula that is a bit difficult to work with and it's fully opaque in two coats (three where needed. By the way, I always do thick coats), but the formula is actually very lovely for a nude nail polish and I manage to get an even application on all nails. With some Seche Vite on top it's brilliant. I also like the wide, rounded brush as it fits the shape of my nails well.

I'm in love. I've been wearing it for three weeks now that's how much I love it. If you love nude polishes give it a go. It's a part of the current Spring LE by Essie and you can find it in DM or on Beauty Bay for 10 €.

Have a great day!

Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel Bordeaux

I known I'll end up sounding very shallow, but I bought this nail polish mostly because of the packaging, so would keep it displayed in a decorative plate I have placed on my vanity. I was also intrigued by the idea of scented nail polishes.

Bordeaux is as the name suggests a burgundy wine shade, so a deep red with a bit of purple hues in it. I love this type of shades, I think they look so classy. A similar shade I own is Essence 113 Do you Speak Love, it just lacks the purple undertones.
The formula is nice as at most red nail polishes. One coat can be enough, but I apply two coats for an even and opaque application. The brush is smaller than I'm used to, though I don't find that fact annoying since my nails are quite narrow. I know a lot of people find the round handle impractical, but I have no problems with it and it's easy to work with.

I heard that these nail polishes have a very strong scent that lasts, but at this shade I barely detect any scent at all. You have to wait for the nails to dry for the scent to appear. It's a very nondescript scent, maybe they tried to imitate the scent of Bordeaux wine, but it's a bit too fruity sweet for a wine scent (then again I'm from Dolenjska. The only wine scent I'm really familiar with is of Cviček, so what do I know). In the scent department this is a disappointment, I was looking forward to lovely smelling nails as strange as this idea may sound.

Parfumerie nail polishes cost 6.99 € in Müller.

Have you tried any of the Revlon's Parfumerie nail polishes?

Maybelline Colorama Bleached Neons 242

Mother of nail polishes was this a hard shade to take an accurate picture of! I fixed them with software to get it as close as possible, but they still lack that "neon-ness" that is noticeable in real life.

This is a shade that looks so pretty in the bottle where it appears as a bleached (muted) neon coral-pink and I had every hope that it will look like that on my nails. But as it happens so often with anything coral on my skintone, it's a more orange shade on me. On my nails it looks like a pastel neon orange with a hint of pink, which looks more pink under some artificial light. It's a bit lighter and more neon than on my picture, but if I lightened it then it just looked pastel apricot, so that's the best you can get from me. It's definitely bright and will get noticed, that neon-ness is actually not that bleached if you ask me. I think this would look nice on someone who's tan or just as a fun summer shade.

The formula is like a classic pastel shade with it's signature thick formula that is difficult to apply evenly (think Mint Candy Apple-like). The brush is a standard one.

I paid 2.49 € in Müller.
Have a great day!

Catrice Luxury Lacquers Holomania C1 Holo Manolo

We finally got a few minutes of sunshine today, so I got the chance to snap a few pictures of Catrice's holographic nail polish. Granted, the pictures aren't the best and the holographic effect is more obvious in person, but that's the best my camera can manage.

Holo Manolo is a silver holographic nail polish. There are several other holographic shades in the Luxury Lacquers collection, I remember teal the most, but I went for the most classic one. The formula is quite thick and sufficiently pigmented so that it needs two layers to be fully opaque. The holographic effect is not the best, it's adequate and noticeable, but perhaps not quite strong enough.
I have another silver holographic polish in my collection, one by Depend in the shade 2025, which is much sheerer, requiring at least three layers for full coverage, however, the holographic effect is stronger and prettier.

I don't own an Aqua Base for holographic polishes or anything similar, so this is an application over a normal base that I use - Bionature 3-in-1 nail polish.
Holo Manolo was 3.79 € (28.90 kn) in Müller. I bought the Depend one a couple of years ago in DM.

Have a great day!

Rimmel Star Dust Aurora

I don't like these glitter/texture nail polishes. I'm just a simple girl that likes cream finishes and I even hate frost. But when saw this one for the first time on Makeup Savvy, I knew need it.

Aurora is a rose gold/light pink glitter polish with densely packed differently sized glitter. I love the effect on the nails, it looks so glamourous and pretty. It actually looks a lot prettier in person, but the glistening is hard to capture in a picture.

Two coats is enough for full coverage, which is a surprise given my experience with glitter polishes which usually need countless layers. I use a top coat over it, but I can still feel the "texture" of glitter.

I just know I will hate taking it off as all such shades are such a pain to remove, but I will endure for this shade.

Rimmel isn't sold in my country, so I got it off ASOS for 5.60 €.

By the way, dearest Croatian readers (or any one else that knows), would you be so kind to tell me where Rimmel is sold in your country? I was just in Westgate shopping centre (Zagreb) and I couldn't find it anywhere. I swear it was it Bipa just last year.

Have a great day!

Essie After School Boy Blazer and Maybelline Colorama 103

Two navies for you today. Anyone who's not a nail polish enthusiast would most likely regard these two as dupes, however there are differences between them.

Essie After School Boy Blazer is a dark, inky navy with a cream finish. It's superbly pigmented, though thicker than other Essies I own. One coat is enough for full opacity, however, I apply two on nails where the first coat is uneven.

Essie After School Boy Blazer :

Maybelline Colorama 103 is another navy, but one that is leaning slightly to purple and has a frosty finish. It's less vibrant than most navies I've seen due to a grey hue. The pigmentation is much weaker than Essie ASBB's. The first coat is sheer and it needs two or even three coats for full opacity.

Maybelline Colorama 103 :

Maybelline 103 is lighter than Essie, however, from far away, the two look very close. I also don't notice a difference in how long they last, but then all nail polishes last super long on me. I believe Essie's ASBB was a limited edition, but if you still find one, I'd highly recommend it as the formula and the colour are amazing. You might like Maybelline more if you're looking for something that doesn't look almost black.
